Dalam turnamen Piala Gubernur Jawa Timur edisi ketiga ini Arema menurunkan skuat juniornya. Alhasil, melawan pemain-pemain yang lebih senior, Ongis Licek hanya menempati posisi keempat Grup B dengan 4 poin hasil satu kemenangan atas Persipro Probolinggo dan satu seri dengan Mojokerto Putra.
